July 22nd – 24th, 2005

Renown for promoting & patronizing gastronomic entertainment spots in Jakarta and Bali, inspired to further advocate tourism, the Roving Insight Executive & Diplomatic Club and Friends, in a convoy of cars headed by His Excellency Major General Syed Mustafa Hussain of Pakistan, set foot on Nuansa Bali hotel located in Anyer, Jln. Raya Karang Bolong KM 133.5, West Java, for an Exclusive Private Beach party. Deriving from a mixture of cultures from 18 countries including Indonesians, totaling more or less 160 people, fun in the sun was the tall order of this magnificent notable weekend.

Nuansa Bali Hotel established in 1997, under the wings of its parent company PT. Karya Titan, was founded in 1976 by Dr. H. Rachmantio. The latter, who graduated from a Technical University in West Germany, was one of the sponsors for the Rovers private beach party. The basic concept of this fantastic manicured resort is a combination of cottages and bungalows, designed to resemble the architectural structure of Balinese traditional trace and its modern contraption, a fitting get away, only a two hour drive from the hectic schedules of today’s diplomats and executives. Each bungalow and Cottage is equipped with a refrigerator, telephone, TV, Air Conditioner, Hot Water, side kitchen and utensils. Apart from these modern day requirements of Jakarta’s Capital residences, Nuansa Bali Hotel offers its clientele with facilities such as a Meeting Room, a clandestine Discotheque, Restaurant and a private Jetty apart from its blue- water swimming pool.

Breathing in the whiff of the ocean, bordered by a stretch of stunning sand shore along its private coast, the waves surfing inland with its 5 minutes break drop, is a sight to behold. In an extended area, a minutes walk across the road from Nuansa Bali, is it’s newly constructed Ubud Cottages. In addition to Ubud’s accommodations, a window’s view of a miniature rice field with workers sifting the wheat can be comprehended. In the rear of this landscape, is the hotel’s forest across more rice fields, where the rovers experienced the game of paintball or rather pain ball.

On the first night, 22nd July 2005, Dr. H. Rachmantio, prepared a welcome dinner for all, at the Hotel’s poolside Gazebo. Then at the stroke of midnight, bonded by asia’s old folk tales, the rovers gathered by the moon’s reflectary glitering coastline, swam like swans, some like ducks, rolling and tumbling amidst the hitting 5 foot waves, shouting with joy, expressing happiness, laughter, just to wash off bad luck and renew good ones on this seventh month. Absorbing the moon’s rays is a thought for those who understands the meaning of energy replenishing.

Waking up for breakfast appeared a tediuos chore for those who slept at dawn. Sipping the fresh aroma of Alun Evan’s specially brewed, ‘Merdeka Coffee’, while the early birds took right away to the vast sea shore.

Dr. H. Rachmantio, behind the scenes, joyfully had his staff prepare his resort for the Rovers and guests, with out door programs like volley ball, pillow fight, tug of war, billiards, Volley ball, complimentary of the Hotel of course. The other activities are banana boat, speed boat, jet ski, apart from baking in the sun.

The bliss of this remarkable laudable weekend brought a number of friends even closer together and friends anew. Escaping out of town with the family and some friends is delightful but going out of town in convoys, some speeding ahead, others arriving at dusk, some the next day is a notable excursion.

No profound words, can really describe the feelings, smiles and laughter on our faces, not forgetting the shouts of, “hut hut hut hut”. The Rovers and friends are community of a very special people and Nuansa Bali endosed this into further depths. Splurging waters blended with the sandy roaring sunny beach, swaying palms, caressing winds, golden shore is the magic of that perfect getaway not only to beat the heat, but also to let loose all hidden passions, bringing out the youth in us.

Donna, Dany Wong & Dexter, Alan

imgIt isn’t often that a young person does something alone that captures the attention of the crowd. During the swimming competition, Una Nebojsa of Bosnia, swimming powers in a showdown clocked first place in the children’s category. Second place went to Alan and third place went to Anthony Wong.

Swimming not just an exercise, but also fun, so in the Adult category, Mary Girsang, a lawyer took first place followed by Ronan who touched down second and third to Glen Gardiner. Jackie the gorgeous husky, looked on as Mrs. Kim Gardiner, Mr. & Mrs. Paul Quaglia and Martin Siddle cheered on for their comrades.

Diplomats, Dr.Panteley from the Bulgarian Embassy and Regoje Nebojsa from the Bosnian Embassy, took the task of walloping each other over the pool on a slim slippery pole. Eventually, the overall winner was Glen Gardiner from Concord Consulting, a well known security firm, who even at the almost, ‘fall’, gripped his legs around the pole, upside down letting his opponent splash head down first into the pool.

It would be a miss, not to quench a thirst, from the scotching, smilling sun, with a mug of the Rover’s official drink, “BIR BINTANG” or a soothing Equil mineral water.

All smiles and waving, Ody Nebojsa, Adjie Sjaaf, Isabelle Sjaaf, Regoje Nebojsa and Una Nebojsa, bravely venture out to sea, on a banana boat.
